Labour reforms to improve lives of poor

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong pitch for labour reforms in his Independence Day speech, specifying that it would simply the lives of the poor.

He stated that “Laws should be clear and precise. It is only then that society progresses. There are 44 different types of labour laws in the country which provides confusion among labourers. The Government has recommended and brought a change in the labour laws and also converting the 44 labour laws into four simplified codes, which is an easy reference for illiterate labourers”.
